About Us

About Us

United SC was founded in 2022 by Boris Mutavdzic, originally from Podgorica, Montenegro. From our beginnings, our mission has been to build a football community grounded in unity, hard work, and shared values.

In 2023, during our first competitive season, we made an immediate statement. We narrowly missed the NSL league title, but finished the year by lifting the first-ever NSL Cup. We also won the GCSL League in our debut season — achievements that marked the start of a new standard for our club.

Since then, we have continued to rise. United SC has become a team that consistently competes for the UPSL playoff stage and is recognized as a regular participant in the U.S. Open Cup qualifiers. Our success is built on discipline, ambition, and a culture that always strives for more.

Today, we enter a new chapter — a transformation shaped by our identity, our values, and our vision for the future. This is why our club is transitioning into a new name: ETHOS.

Head Coach at Ethos in Chicago

Jose Del Valle

Coach

Meet coach Jose Del Valle. He was captain for Real Madrid Academy in Spain. He played as winger and striker. Later on he committed and played NCAA D1 for Northwester University in Big10 conference. Jose brings a lot of experience from Real Madrid and Northwestern and is excited to help young soccer players from Chicagoland unlock their potential.

Goalkeeper Coach

Meet our goalkeeper coach Boris Mutavdzic. Boris has experience coaching goalkeepers at all levels, from professional goalkeepers, college goalkeepers, MLS Next and ECNL goalkeepers. Boris brings a lot of experience, charisma and passion. He is ready to help goalkeepers achieve their goals and lead future generations of Ethos Soccer Academy.

Rom Brown

Coach

Meet coach Rom Brown. He was captain of Northwestern University and worked as assistant coach there. Rom played as defensive and central midfielder. Very inspiring and hard working midfielder will be bringing his experience in Ethos Soccer Academy and is ready for a new challenge - to make future stars in our academy and help kids achieve their dreams.

Todor Simonovic

Coach

Meet coach Todor Simonovic. He played in Europe and later on moved to USA to play for Roosevelt University. His prime position is outside back and attacking midfielder. Todor is bringing a lot of experience working with youth programs and is excited to lead, inspire and develop young players on Ethos Soccer Academy.
